Organization Details
CAD Jumla, standing for “Community Action for Development,” is a non-profit organization based in Jumla district of Nepal. It was established in 2009 by a group of passionate individuals including lawyers, social workers, health workers, journalists, human rights activists, and intellectuals to promote human rights and facilitate developmental activities in the Karnali region. This region, part of the Karnali province, faces challenges such as geographical remoteness, economic hardships, and traditional practices, and boasts rich flora and fauna.
CAD Jumla, registered at District Administration Office, Jumla (No. 14/066/067, Date: 2066/07/26; Renewed Dated- 2080/05/29) and affiliated with Social Welfare Council (No. 27881, dated 2066/08/ 25 Renewed dated 2079/10/23) is a non-profit-making NGO working in areas of promoting human rights and developmental activities. It is associated with the NGO Federation of Nepal and has received a Tax exemption certificate (10015-2080/5/19) and Permanent Account Number (304783751). It is also associated with the NGO Federation of Nepal. CAD Jumla has its head office at the headquarters of Jumla. CAD Jumla had a lead role in the Karnali agriculture and food concern group in the Karnali region and is a member of the campaign Food and Agriculture in Nepal. CAD, Jumla is also a member of Czop, a board member of CCR-Karnali, and a member of NCE-Nepal.
CAD Jumla operates with a democratic and participatory approach, believing in inclusive and accountable development initiatives. It is governed by an Executive Committee comprising 7 (3 Male -4 Female) and seven members elected from the General Assembly, which is the organization’s highest decision-making body. The General Assembly, consisting of 15 members (7 Male and 8 Memale), meets annually to set organizational direction, approve policies, and plan programs. The Executive Committee, currently composed of three males and four females including two Dalits and one Janjati, is responsible for implementing the decisions made by the General Assembly.
Membership to CAD Jumla is open to all individuals willing to support the organization’s vision, mission, and objectives and committed to promoting social justice, peace, and poverty alleviation in the Karnali region. The organization emphasizes democratic leadership, collective accountability, and consensual decision-making processes in all its activities.
